One of the trends for this season for women is the babydoll dress. It’s characterized by a loose fit with layered flounces. The neck and shoulders are usually more structured than the rest of the dress.

We’ve seen a few coming through our doors at Great Lakes Clothing Care and the look is fun and feminine. The design translates well for casual in printed cottons and denim, and for special occasions and dress in silk and textural fabrics.

The look is meant to be carefree and breezy, but it’s not wash-and-wear except for the most casual of situations. Babydoll dresses look their best when finished and pressed so that each flounced layer hangs just perfect from the one above it. Yet, a hard press is to be avoided to maintain the soft look.
